PUIC General Secretariat Participates in 16th Plenary Session of the APA

As part of its commitment to strengthening multilateral parliamentary cooperation, and in support of efforts aimed at unifying stances on regional and international issues of shared interest, the General Secretariat of the PUIC participated, in its capacity as an observer, in the 16th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, held in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, from 24 to 28 January 2026. This participation took place pursuant to an invitation extended by H.E. Mr. Ahmed Bin Salman Almusalam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The session brought together Speakers of Parliaments and Heads of Parliamentary Delegations from across Asia, alongside representatives of other observer organizations. It was convened under the theme “The Role of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Promoting Dialogue among Civilizations and Cultures in Asia: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Prospects.”

During the proceedings, the rotating presidency of the Assembly was formally transferred from the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Participants also exchanged views on a range of developments affecting the region and the world.
