As these centres deliver spiritual and cultural services to Muslim minorities living in Germany, the PUIC Secretary General condemns the closure of these centres, and considers these measures to be in contradiction to the principles of human rights and freedoms, especially freedom of religion and belief, freedom of expression and assembly, and a violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Charter of the United Nations.
Such measures are bound to increase tension, hatred, Islamophobia and violence against Muslims, and impact the ties of tolerance among the followers of the divine religions, which are based on peaceful coexistence.
Since the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States is considered the voice of Islamic parliaments, and responsible for protecting the rights of Muslim minorities in the world, the PUIC Secretary General calls upon the German authorities to revoke these measures, which are considered an affront to the feelings of Muslims and a violation of their legitimate rights.
