His Excellency stressed the necessity of finding a final settlement to the issue of Jammu –Kashmir, according to the resolutions of the UN Security Council which call for conducting a free and independent referendum under UN auspices, aimed at realizing the wish of the Jammu –Kashmir people to join India or Pakistan.

Proceeding from previous resolutions of PUIC Conferences, the Secretary General declares PUIC solidarity with the Muslim Kashmiri people, and condemns the current human rights violations in the region.

He demands India to put an end to its illegitimate practices in the region and to enter into negotiations with Pakistan in order to find a peaceful solution to the dispute.
