The General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States presents its compliments to all the august Member Parliaments and with reference to its Note Verbale No. MP-128IPU/13-031 regarding the Consultation Meeting of the Islamic Group along the side lines of the 128th Assembly of the IPU,

has the honour to enclose the updated Draft Agenda for this meeting, reminding the august members, that the said Meeting will be held in Salon Land?buro, Quito (Ecuador) on Saturday 23rd March, 2013 from 14.00 to 16.00 hours.

THE CONSULTATION MEETING OF THE ISLAMIC GROUP
SATURDAY 23RD MARCH, 2013


VENUE: Salon Land?buro, Quito (Ecuador)
TIME:     14.00 to 16.00 Hours.

  1. Adoption of the Draft Agenda.
  2. Brief by the Secretary General on the meeting.
  3. Adopting a unified position regarding issues of common concern for the Islamic Group on the following Agenda Items of the 128th  Assembly Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union:-

3.1 Changing the date for holding the 129th IPU Assembly as it will be synchronous with the festival days of the blessed Eid Al-Adha (Proposed by PUIC)

3.2 "Role of the Parliamentarians in reaching to an international agreement on criminalizing prejudice the sacred and religious symbols, and emphasis on mutual respect between religions and world civilizations, as a prerequisite for the global peace and security". (Proposed by UAE FNC)

3.3 Supporting the candidacy of Republic of Azerbaijan to host the Next IPU meeting in Baku. (Proposed by Republic of Azerbaijan)

3.4 Consideration of requests for the inclusion of an emergency item in the Assembly Agenda.

3.4.1  Should the deliberate destruction of world cultural heritage not be considered as a crime against humanity? The role of parliaments in: 1) passing appropriate legislation to guarantee protection of world cultural heritage; and 2) developing international criminal law provisions that criminalize serious attacks on the cultural heritage of humanity. (Proposed by Moroccan Parliament)

3.5 Approval of the subject items for the 130th Assembly and appointment of the Rapporteurs. (Proposed by IPU).

3.6 Amendments to the Statutes and Rules of the IPU. (Proposed by IPU).

     4. Any other business.
