    The General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States presents its compliments to all the august Member Parliaments and with reference to the Consultation Meeting of the Islamic Group along the side lines of the 127th Assembly of the IPU, has the honour to inform that the said Meeting will be held in Room 2000 A, on the Second Floor of the Quebec City Convention Centre, Quebec, Republic of Canada on Sunday, 21 October, from 13.30 to 15.00 Hours.

    The General Secretariat while enclosing the Draft Agenda for this meeting requests the august Member Parliaments to send as early as possible any agenda items they wish to discuss or get the supports of the PUIC Member Parliaments during the IPU meeting.

The General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States avails itself of this opportunity to renew to all the august Member Parliaments, the assurances of its highest consideration.

THE CONSULTATION MEETING OF THE ISLAMIC GROUP
SUNDAY 21st October, 2012


VENUE: Room 2000 A, on the Second Floor of the Quebec City Convention Centre.
TIME:     13.30 to 15.00 Hours.

1.    Adoption of the Draft Agenda.
2.    Brief by the Secretary General on the meeting.
3.   Adopting a unified position regarding issues of common concern for the Islamic Group on the following Agenda Items of the 127th  Assembly Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union:-
3.1    Election of the President and Vice-Presidents of the 127th Assembly (Proposed by IPU)
3.2    Consideration of requests for the inclusion of an emergency item in the Assembly agenda (Proposed by IPU).
3.2.1    The violence perpetrated by armed terrorist groups against Christians and other minorities in Syria and attempts to drive them out of Syria (Proposed by Syrian Arab Republic)
3.2.2    The international role of parliamentarians in prohibiting the defamation of religions and the desecration of religious symbols and shrines by contributing to the conclusion of an international agreement on the criminalization of such acts and by recognizing respect for religions as a prerequisite for international peace, understanding and cooperation (proposed by United Arab Emirates)
3.2.3    The situation regarding institutions and security in Mali (Proposed by Republic of Mali)
3.3       Special debate on Citizenship, identity and linguistic and cultural diversity in a globalized world (Proposed by IPU).
3.4    Outcome of:
(a)     Special debate on Citizenship, identity and linguistic and cultural diversity in a globalized world (Proposed by IPU).
(b)     Special gender partnership session on gender-sensitive parliaments (Proposed by IPU).
(c)     IPU Committee on United Nations Affairs (Proposed by IPU).
