Report of The 4th Standing Specialized Committee on Women, Social and Cultural Affairs

KAMPALA – REPUBLIC OF UGANDA
26 – 27 JANUARY, 2010
 
 
1.          The Standing Specialized Committee on Women, Social and Cultural Affairs held its 4th Meeting in Kampala, Republic of Uganda on 26 – 27 January, 2010. Due to the absence of the Rapporteur of the Committee H.E. Mr. Mohamed Lebchir, representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Niger, the Committee elected H.E. Dr. Nour Hayati Ali Al-Saggaf, Representative of the House of Representatives of Indonesia to chair the Meeting.
 
2.          The Meeting was attended by Their Excellencies:      
 
Arab Group:
 
-          H.E. Prof. Zeinab Radwan, Representative of the People’s Assembly of Egypt.
-          H.E. Mrs. Zainab Ahmed Al Tayeb, Representative of the National Assembly of Sudan.
-          H.E. Mr. Habeeb Makki Hashem, Representative of the House of Representatives of Bahrain.
-          H.E. Mr. Akhmed K Mohammad, Representative of Algeria.
 
Asian Group:
 
-          H.E. Mrs. Govhar Bakhshalieya, Representative of Azerbaijan. (Unable to attend)
-          H.E. Dr. Nour Hayati Ali Al-Saggaf, Representative of Indonesia.
-          H.E. Mr. Rosnah, Representative of the House of Representatives of Malaysia. (Absent)
-          H.E. Mrs. Alim Isik, Representative of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. 
 
African Group:
 
-          H.E. Mr. Ibrahima Tawel Camara, Reprehensive of the National Assembly of Guinea. (Unable to attend)
-          H.E. Mr. Ouedraogo Sayouba, Representative of the national Assembly of Burkina Faso.
-          H.E. Mrs. Sofiath Schanou Arouna, Representative of the National Assembly of Benin. (Unable to attend)
-     H.E. Mr. Abel Erneato Safrao, Representative of the National Assembly of Mozambique. (Unable to attend)
 
3.          The PUIC General Secretariat was represented by H.E. Mr. Siddig Yousif Abuagla Ahmed Director of Cabinet who welcomed the members of the Committee on behalf of the Secretary General. He also conveyed to the meeting the welcome of the PUIC Secretary General and his wishes for the success of the proceedings of the Committee.
 
4.         The meeting reviewed the Agenda and discussed its 10 items. The discussion included constructive interventions which finally led to the adoption of the attached draft resolutions to be submitted to the august PUIC Conference.
