 The General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States presents its compliments to all the august Member Parliaments and with reference to the Consultation Meeting of the Islamic Group along the side lines of the 121st Assembly of the IPU, has the honour to inform that the said Meeting will be held on 19 October 2009, from 10 to 11.30 and under the chairmanship of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Fathi Sorour, Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Arab Republic of Egypt. And President of 5th PUIC Conference.
 The General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States avails itself of this opportunity to renew to all the august Member Parliaments, the assurances of its highest consideration.

DRAFT AGENDA of the CONSULTATION MEETING OF THE ISLAMIC GROUP
DATE : 19th October, 2009
TIME: 10.00 TO 11.30 A.M.
VENUE : MEETING ROOMS NO.3 & 4 ON THE GROUND FLOOR OF THE CENTRE INTERNATIONAL DE CONFRENCES DE GENEVE (CICG).

AGENDA
1. Adoption of the Draft Agenda.
2. Brief by the Secretary General on the meeting.
3. Adopting a unified position regarding issues of common concern for the Ummah at the 121st Assembly Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the following Agenda Items:-
3.1 The situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and particularly in Gaza (Presented by Oman, on behalf of the Arab Group).
3.2 Zionist regime’s unceasing violation of the rights of Palestinians, calls for the coherent actions of all member parliaments to make every efforts need to confront the current tragic situation. (Proposed by the Islamic Republic of Iran).
3.3. The role of parliamentarians and regional Parliamentary Organizations in Combating H1NI and containing its Economic and Social Risks. (Proposed by the UAE Parliamentary Group)
3.4      Parliamentary cooperation with the United Nations to promote investment in research and scientific advancements to boost agricultural productivity and combat drought-induced famine, floods and other natural disasters. (Presented by Uganda, on behalf of the African Group).
3.5 Cooperation and shared responsibility in the global fight against organized crime, in particular drug trafficking, illegal arms sales, human trafficking and cross-border terrorism.
3.6.  The role of parliaments in developing South-South and Triangular Cooperation with a view to accelerating achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
3.7.  Youth participation in the democratic process.
4. Any other business.
