The meeting was opened with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an.
1. H.E. Mr. Salim Al-Jabouri, Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, chaired the Committee meeting at the Government Palace, Al-Quds Hall, on 20 January 2016, in the presence of the following members:
1.1 People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria,
1.2 Republic of Chad,
1.3 Republic of Indonesia,
1.4 Republic of Iraq,
1.5 Islamic Republic of Iran.
1.6 Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,
1.7 Kingdom of Morocco,
1.8 State of Palestine,
1.9 Republic of Sudan,
1.10. Republic of Turkey,
2. The following member parliaments were absent:
2.1 Republic of Burkina Faso,
2.2 Kingdom of Bahrain,
2.3 Republic of Guinea.

2.5 State of the United Arab Emirates,
3. SPEECH OF THE SPEAKER OF THE IRAQI COUNCIL OF REPRESENTATIVES:
H.E. Mr Salim Al-Jabouri chaired the meeting of the committee and delivered an exhaustive speech which he began by welcoming the members of the committee, stating that the Palestinian people are suffering the agonies of war waged on them by the usurper Zionist entity targeting their very existence. HE called for a serious and resolute pause for the sake of the triumph of the Palestinian cause. We may summarize the speech as follows:
3.1 Calling for the recognition of the State of Palestine.
3.2 Acting seriously in all fields for the return of the Palestinians to their homes.
3.3 Encouraging economic and investment projects in Palestine.
3.4 Rejecting attempts aimed at the Judaization of Palestinian corporations in al-Qods and all the occupied Palestinian territories.
3.5 Addressing the international co; unity to ensure protection for the Palestinian people.
3.6 Seriously seeking to realize Palestinian national reconciliation.
4. The meeting adopted the items of the agenda as attached. The Delegation of Palestine added an item for the formation of a Committee on Palestine in all Member Parliaments.
5. SPEECH OF HE THE PUIC SECRETARY GENERAL
In his speech, the Secretary General stated that the meeting of the committee is convened in the historical city of Baghdad which symbolizes the Islamic civilization and its flourishing eras. He underlined that this meeting is taking place while the Israeli enemy is continuing its savage aggressions on our people in Palestine, and mainly in the city of Al-Quds. He paid tribute to the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and Al-Quds citizens, and their heroic resistance to the usurper enemy. He called for a popular pause in all the states of the member parliaments in support of Al-Quds uprising. He called also for providing international protection to the Palestinian people. He stressed in his exhaustive speech the attention paid by the PUIC to the cause of Palestine; it held an extraordinary session on the sidelines of the Assembly of the IPU in Geneva, on 17 October 2015 to consider ways of responding and confronting the Israeli aggressions against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and adopted important resolutions and recommendations that confirmed support to the Palestinian cause and confronting the barbaric Israeli aggressions.
6. REVIEWING THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN THE PALESTINIAN ARENA:
H.E. Dr. Faysal Abu Shahla, Deputy Chair of the Committee, presented a detailed review of the latest developments in the Palestinian arena in general, and Al-Quds uprising in particular. He expressed greetings and pride to the Palestinian Youth and Al-Quds citizens who offer their lives in defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque and in order to thwart attempts to annex the holy mosque, in time and place. He went on to say that Al-Quds citizens suffer unemployment, and that the highest rate of unemployment is in Gaza Strip. He demanded to ensure international protection to halt the aggression on the Palestinians; he also demanded the convening of an international peace conference whose objectives shall include putting an end to the Zionist Israeli hegemony in Palestine. In conclusion, he proposed establishing a standing Committee on Palestine in every Member Parliament.
7. INTERVENTIONS OF MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE:
The interventions of the Honorable members covered the items included in the agenda. These interventions were characterized by vitality and stressing political determination and will for supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause until clear victory. The discussion resulted in the following resolutions and recommendations:
1- Urging all states of the world to recognize the State of Palestine.
2- Forming standing Palestine Committees in the parliaments of Islamic States.
3- Demanding international protection for the Palestinian people.
4- Convening an international conference on peace in Palestine.
5- Energizing parliamentary diplomacy by paying visits to the parliaments of other states to inform them about developments in Palestine.
6- Intensifying international pressure on Zionist entity (Israel) in order to stop its aggression on the Palestinian people and implement the resolutions of the international legitimacy.
7- Establishing highly effective and professional television channels to be dedicated to extending support to the Palestinian cause and informing about the just rights of the Palestinian people, and expose the crimes of the usurper Zionist Israeli enemy. These channels should be able to excel the media of the enemy.
8- Encouraging the establishment of economic and investment projects in Palestine.
9- Acting seriously to realize Palestinian national reconciliation.
10- Rejecting and resisting attempts to Judaize Palestinian institutions in Al-Qods and the occupied Palestinian territories.
