    The General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States presents its compliments to all the august Member Parliaments and with reference to the Consultation Meeting of the Islamic Group along the side lines of the 124th Assembly of the IPU, has the honour to inform that the said Meeting will be held in Las Cestas, on the First floor of the ATLAPA Convention Centre, Panama City (Panama), Friday 15th April, 2011 from 17.00 to 19.00

    The General Secretariat while enclosing the Draft Agenda for this meeting requests the Member Parliaments to send as early as possible any agenda items they wish to discuss or get the supports of the PUIC Member Parliaments during the IPU meeting.

The PUIC General Secretariat would like to draw the attention to the august Member Parliaments of the resolution No. 16-PE/13-CNCL which: “Invites all Member Parliaments to participate effectively in meetings of the Islamic Parliamentary Consultative Group in order to take its resolutions into consideration”.    

The General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States avails itself of this opportunity to renew to all the august Member Parliaments, the assurances of its highest consideration.

3.    Adopting a unified position regarding issues of common concern for the Islamic Group on the following Agenda Items of the 124th  Assembly Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union:-
3.1    Election of the President and Vice-Presidents of the 124th Assembly. (Proposed by IPU)
3.2    Consideration of possible requests for the inclusion of an emergency item in the Assembly agenda. (Proposed by IPU)
3.3    General debate on the political, economic and social situation in the world with the overall theme of Parliamentary accountability: living up to people's expectations. (Proposed by IPU)
3.4   Providing a sound legislative framework aimed at preventing electoral violence, improving election monitoring and ensuring the smooth transition of power (First Standing Committee on Peace and International Security). (Proposed by IPU)
3.5     The role of parliaments in ensuring sustainable development through the management of natural resources, agricultural production and demographic change (Second Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, Finance and Trade). (Proposed by IPU)
3.6   Transparency and accountability in the funding of political parties and election campaigns (Third Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights). (Proposed by IPU)
3.7     Approval of the subject items for the 126th Assembly and appointment of the Rapporteurs. (Proposed by IPU)

4.    Any other business.
