PUIC Secretary General Calls for Settlement of Jammu and Kashmir Dispute under UN Resolutions

As this year marks the 76th anniversary of the United Nations resolution to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through a free and fair referendum, under the auspices of the United Nations, to determine the fate of the Kashmiri people,H.E. Mr Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, the Secretary General of the PUIC reiterates the need to resolve this issue in accordance with the numerous UN resolutions issued in this regard since 1949 to date.

H.E. also recalls that the PUIC conferences have repeatedly emphasised support for the Kashmiri people to realize their inalienable rights, that the final settlement can only be achieved through a UN-supervised referendum, and that the people of Jammu Kashmir are the primary stakeholder in the dispute and should be included in any peace process aimed at ending the conflict.

The Secretary General calls on the international community to enforce the implementation of UN resolutions related to this dispute.
