PUIC Secretary General Welcomes UNGA Resolutions on Palestine

By an overwhelming majority (158 in favour, 9 against, 13 abstentions), the UN General Assembly adopted several important resolutions on Palestine on 11 December 2024, renewing its demand for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, enabling the people of Gaza to receive basic services and humanitarian assistance, and opposing any actions aimed at starving Palestinians. The resolutions also emphasised the necessity of accountability and rejected any attempt at demographic or territorial change in the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, the General Assembly condemned the Israeli Knesset's decision regarding the UNRWA and affirmed its full support for the UN agency in all areas of its work. This came within the scope of the 10th Emergency Special Session of the General Assembly under the theme ‘Illegal Israeli actions in occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory".

H.E. Mr Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, Secretary General of the PUIC, welcomes these UN resolutions and calls for stopping the genocide perpetrated by the Zionist entity against the people of Gaza for more than a year.

H.E. also calls on the Islamic Ummah to support the heroic Palestinian people who are struggling to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, and notes that the protection of Islamic holy sites in Palestine is the responsibility of the entire Ummah.
