The Agency is affiliated to the Al-Quds Committee, which is one of the four standing committees of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). H.E. Mr Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, Secretary General of the PUIC and the participating delegations were received by Dr Mohammed Salem Echarkaoui, Director of the Beyt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, who delivered a speech in which he introduced this agency, which was established at the Islamic Summit held in Casablanca in December 1994, to serve as a financial mechanism of the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty the King Mohammed IV.
He explained that the agency was established to contribute to the protection of the Holy City, preserve its religious and cultural heritage, support the resilient Palestinians and help them cope with the challenges they face.
The director of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif stated that the economic conditions in Al Quds are deteriorating after nearly 11 months of the unjust war against our people in Palestine and Gaza.
He also highlighted that the Kingdom of Morocco secures the full operating budget of the agency and finances 100 per cent of the Agency's projects in Al Quds since 2011.
He explained the difficult living conditions of the residents of Al Quds and outlined the Agency's areas of intervention and activities in the Holy City.
He concluded his speech by announcing that the Agency will launch in a few days the annual ‘Awna’ campaign to help Palestinian farmers to harvest olives, as well as the second phase of human development projects in favour of a number of associations of Palestinian women to motivate them to engage in more productive and income-generating activities.
H.E. Mr Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, Secretary General of the PUIC, stressed the importance of Al Quds for the PUIC, which prioritises it above all else, as it is the eternal capital of the Palestinian state.
H.E said that Al Quds, with the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque at its heart, is a red line for the Islamic Ummah.
His Excellency then received the Honorary Shield Award of this agency from its director.
