Legislative Elections in Senegal Conducted in Quiet Atmosphere

The Republic of Senegal witnessed on 31 July, 2022, legislative elections, which were the 14th of its kind in the state.

Polls were contested by (8) lists with a total of (165) seats in the National Assembly. The number of eligible registered voters was (7,360,466) persons and the rate of participation was 47%.

The missions, monitoring the elections, commended the quiet atmosphere in which polling was conducted. Those Observers, especially from the African Union and ECOWAS, stated that those “good practices” of the Senegalese elections must to be “circulated to the other African Countries”

The National Assembly of Senegal is an active member of the PUIC.

The General Secretariat would like to congratulate the Senegalese people on the success of the elections, and wishes them further progress, prosperity in unity and stability.
