The two sides reviewed total relations between the National Assembly of Mauritania and the PUIC. The Secretary General of the PUIC explained to H.E. the Speaker, the PUIC role in coordination and rapprochement between Islamic Parliaments. He affirmed the PUIC objectives in terms of achieving the glory of Islam and Muslims through Unity, solidarity, harmony and brotherhood among Muslim peoples. The Secretary General expressed his wish for effective participation of the Mauritanian Parliament in all PUIC activities.

H.E. the Mauritanian Speaker Mr. Al-Sheikh Wold Baya, welcomed His Excellency the Secretary General and expressed total readiness to contribute and enhance the PUIC progress and that the Parliament of Mauritania will spare no effort in anything that consolidates solidarity among Muslims and achieves the great objectives of the PUIC.

It may be recalled that the PUIC members amount to 54 Muslim Parliaments, and that it has observed this year the 20th anniversary since its establishment. Furthermore, the PUIC is the second largest parliamentary organization after the Inter parliamentary Union (IPU).
