H.E. the Secretary General welcomed the honorable guest and highly appreciated the important role which the IPU plays to enrich parliamentary life at the world level, as well as the services which it offers to advance the work of the national parliaments. Mr. Niass thanked the IPU President for facilitating the convening of the meeting of the Islamic Group on the sidelines of the IPU Assembly. Then, Mr. Niass briefed the IPU President on the PUIC: Formation, membership, objectives, meetings and aspirations.

Mrs. Gabriela C. Barron thanked the PUIC Secretary General for the warm reception and for the important information on the Islamic Parliamentary organization. She referred to the big role which the IPU assumes in the framework of the Global parliamentary action.

She stated that the IPU organizes several workshops which address significant issues of common concern such as youth, combating terrorism, migration, the environment and the role of women in community development. Then Mrs. Barron invited His Excellency, the Secretary General to attend the next IPU Assembly which will be held in Serbia.

The two sides stressed in this meeting, the necessity of cooperation between the two parliamentary organizations. At the end of the visit H.E. Mr. Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass presented the PUIC Memorial Plaque to H.E. the IPU President.
